This was a cut back week, which was more than welcome after running 20 miles last Sunday which brought on some more aches & pains. The highlight of the week was volunteering at Sgt. Pat’s 5k on Saturday, a race held in honor of a Long Branch policeman who was killed in the line of duty in 1997. The Jersey Shore Running Club sponsors the event, which usually brings out about 600 – 700 runners. The Long Branch Police are out in force for the race, leading the runners on three Harley Davidsons (very cool). I volunteered and worked at the two water stops of the event, along with future elite runner Katie R. A great time, and nice inspiration building up to another 20 mile run next weekend.
